Sound engineer and seasoned music producer Zapp Mallet has voiced his deep dissatisfaction with the well-known gospel pair Tagoe Sisters for not extending an invitation to him for their 40th anniversary celebration.
He characterizes the Tagoe Sisters’ behavior as ungrateful, considering that they assisted them in producing an album in 1989 that was crucial to their career success.
The music producer claimed that he did not receive an official invitation to attend the event, nor did he receive a call or text message acknowledging his contributions to their musical success.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Zapp Mallet spoke with GhanaWeb, which was monitored by 1Family, and voiced his disappointment that Tagoe Sisters had not invited him to their 40th anniversary celebration.
”I suppose I wasn’t a member of their musical group because I wasn’t invited. Since I recorded an album with them in the interim, I should have been present. Nothing arrived, and they didn’t even call to let me know.
”I just noticed a number of billboards, some at East Legion, and social media promotion. Those who were invited attended, but I was not; therefore, perhaps I wasn’t a member of their musical group, he remarked.
Zapp Mallet laughed and responded, “Yes [I’m pained], because why would you do that?” when asked if he was disappointed or hurt by the Tagoe Sisters’ decision not to invite him. All we have to do is treat each other with the decency they deserve.
In celebration of their 40th year in the music business, the Tag Sisters had a celebration. On October 15, 2023, the event took place at the Accra International Conference Center.
The event was graced by a host of gospel musicians and notable figures, including Piesie Esther, Empress Gifty, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and other celebrities.
