Together with a wide range of Ghanaians, a number of celebrities have voiced their dissatisfaction with President Akufo-Addo’s comments made when touring Volta Region districts seriously affected by flooding.
In his remarks, President Akufo-Addo assured the affected people of his administration’s commitment to finding a solution while visiting some of the districts severely affected by the floods brought on by the Akosombo Dam spill.
“I came here because Ghanaians are having difficulties and suffering, and it is my responsibility to try and help. If it is the question of counting who votes for me and who doesn’t vote for me, I shouldn’t be here because you don’t vote for me, but that is not my concern. In any event, one day, you will vote for me and my party,’’ the president said.
Some members of the public have taken offense to the president’s remarks, believing that they were insensitive in light of how terrible the current flood situation is.
They contended that under these circumstances, the president ought not to have made remarks on votes.
