The award-winning reggae/dancehall performer Samini has expressed his concerns with the numerous comparisons made between Nigerian and Ghanaian musicians.
He claims that because of the stark differences in the populations of the two nations, these comparisons are discriminatory and unfair.
Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show, which 1Family radio monitored, Samini underlined that Ghanaian musicians find it difficult to attain the same degree of success as their Nigerian counterparts in terms of streams and views due to the country’s population. Distance between the two nations.
He stated that it is not realistic for artists in Ghana to gather millions of streams in a short period of time, whereas artists in Nigeria, with a far larger population base, may do so.
It is absurd to compare my number to that of an artist who has several 100,000 followers from their country, given where I am from and how many people are from there.
”He claimed that an artist in Ghana and an artist in Nigeria can receive the same one million streams in one hour.
Samini went on to say that these analogies don’t upset him personally. He would rather write his music and concentrate on his listeners. which keeps expanding annually.
In addition, he gave instances of how Jamaican music, despite the nation’s modest size, is popular all over the world due to its dispersed population.
