Mam Yandey Joof, 31, has been remanded to police custody by the Madina District Court in connection with the alleged murder of Bennette Agyekum Adomah, the chief executive officer of the Kikibees Restaurant and Lounge at East Legon.
The 40-year-old man, who was Adomah’s girlfriend prior to the incident and works as a hotelier, was allegedly murdered on the roof of the house.The court did not accept Mam Yandeh Joof’s plea.
For the past three years, the deceased and the suspects have had an intimate connection.
The deceased traveled outside around three months ago. On October 7, 2023, he returned to Ghana in the evening and went to his residence at East Legion. He left the house about 8:00 p.m. to go to the Kikibees restaurant and lounge at East Legon.
On October 8, 2023, at around 1:30 a.m., the dead went from the KiKibees restaurant to the suspect’s place in Ogbojo.
The deceased abruptly grew agitated and began acting abnormally later in the night, at around 1:30 a.m. He also began hurling objects around the room and screaming that someone was after him.The noise awakened the other tenants in the house.
When the deceased’s close friend answered the phone, the suspect told him to come to her apartment and help her, but when the friend arrived, he discovered the deceased writhing in a pool of blood in the kitchen.
According to Inspector Awumey, the residents of the house helped them and drove him to the DEL hospital in East Legon, but he was declared dead soon after.
Following the reporting of the death to the police, the body was sent to the mortuary of the Police Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Stain-filled pieces of broken ceramic glass were discovered in the apartment during the scene’s assessment.
The deceased person’s left thumb had a cut, and the corpse was infected. An inquiry is still underway.
However, Muniru Kassim, the suspect’s attorney, informed the court that his client is innocent and that they would drive to the court and the public at the appropriate time to prove that she did not commit murder.
He stated that they will go to the high court to get his client’s bail.
The case was postponed till October 27 by the Susana Nyakotey-led court.
