The absence of Mohammed Kudus from the Premier League Awards for the 2023–2024 season has disappointed some Ghanaians.
Many questioned the selection criteria when Kudus was left off of the Premier League’s list of nominees for the end-of-season awards on May 9, 2024, despite his outstanding inaugural season.
Kudus has contributed 12 goals in all, including 7 goals and 5 assists. He has also created history by being the first player in the league to execute over 100 successful dribbles.
Some Ghanaians have taken to social media to vent their disappointment over Kudu’s rejection. The following players are vying for the Premier League Young Player of the Year award this season: Erling Haaland, William Saliba, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Alexander Isak, and Destiny Udogie.
Together with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, two midfielders for Arsenal, Erling Haaland of Manchester City is a nominee for Premier League Player of the Season.
The other players on the shortlist are Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, forward Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, forward Alexander Isak of Newcastle, and forward Cole Palmer of Chelsea.
On May 18, the Premier League Board is anticipated to declare the winners.
