Kurt Okraku has been recommended as the most suitable candidate among those vying to lead the association by Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Okraku is seeking approval from delegates to serve as the national football governing body’s president for a second term. However, a former FA vice president named George Afriyie is keen to oust the incumbent Kurt Okraku in the upcoming election, which is scheduled for September 27.
But the former GFA president thinks that instead of electing a new leader, the organization would be better off giving Kurt another chance.
Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports, which was monitored by 1Family Radio, Nyaho claimed that Kurt Okraku has worked assiduously to rebuild the GFA, which was in disarray following the Number 12 Anas expose by Tiger Eye PI in 2018.
“I want to endorse Kurt Okraku for the upcoming FA elections, and my reasons are very simple. We came out of very turbulent waters not long ago. The FA was in the hands of a group appointed by FIFA, and Kurt has been able to stabilize things,” he said.
“Okraku has been able to come out with some projects, and I believe strongly that if he is given the opportunity, he will take the FA far.”
He continued, “This time around, it’s only two terms, unlike previously, where one could contest as many as he wanted. It’s better we give him the opportunity than go in for somebody who has not learned the ropes.
Nyaho advised those calling for the resignation of the GFA president to consult the committee involved and end the unfounded charges that the GFA president was running a family-and-friends FA and showing a lack of accountability.
“All those making that allegation know what to do. They have a committee for such things, so all they have to do is take it to that committee,” he added.
