Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has declared that political paraphernalia is no longer permitted during festive periods in the region.
He claims that the decision to outlaw political party insignia during festivities was made in consultation with the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
The Greater Accra Region’s administration contends that by making such a decision, they can prevent political confusion-related mayhem on various occasions and maintain a peaceful and congenial environment.
A decision was made to forbid any traditional council or political party in the area from hoisting any party banners during a meeting on Monday, August 14, 2023, which 1Family Radio monitored.
“Today, we also collectively agreed to place a total ban on the use of party paraphernalia during a festive period in the Greater Accra Region. And that will be from Ada all the way to Bortianor,’’ the regional minister stated.
It was also decided that tricycle mobility would be restricted in some designated locations in the assemblies. These areas are located in the Greater Accra Regional Enclave and include the Central Business District of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Krowor, La-Nkwantanag, Madina, Tema Metropolitan Assembly, and La Dadekotopon.
Henry Quartey went on to say that a statement will be released shortly informing the public of the decision.
