Concerns have been expressed by several residents of communities in Adenta, Wejia, and Kasoa regarding the erratic water supply in those locations.
These individuals have no other water source but a well, and they have taken to protesting against the long line they must wait in to acquire water for their daily needs.
Ghana Water Company Limited [GWCL] has linked the alarming situation to the Greater Accra Region’s rapid population expansion as the cause of the water scarcity that has affected certain areas of Accra.
Dr. Clifford Braiamh, the business’s managing director, said that the amount of water the company can deliver to each home and community has exceeded the rate of population growth.
The population of Accra has already outgrown the amount of water we generate, so we are planning to install a new system at Kpone to increase output. However, since 2017, we have been working on the issue but have not made a decision regarding funding.
As a result, if your population is large and your water supply is limited, you will need to block some of it and supply water to meet demand. However, you cannot supply water to everyone at once since some individuals will not receive it. We have therefore been limited for a very long period.” Dr. Clifford Barimah said in an interview on a sisterhood station, Citi FM, that was sighted by 1Family Radio.
