Afro-dancehall trailblazer Stonebwoy has said that if the proper measures are not taken, public pressure on Ghanaian artists will be ineffective.
In a live Twitter conversation with media personality Berla Mundi that was being followed by 1Family Radio, Stonebwoy said that while he understands the pressure, there is still work to be done before the Ghana entertainment industry can make any advancements.
“I don’t see pressure. What I see is awareness. By that, we all have to go to the drawing board and check what makes it happen,’’ he said.
“The pressure doesn’t make anything happen; it doesn’t solve anything. I see that pressure, as it’s beautiful to see Ghana represent Africa at the highest level. I think it’s a good pressure, but for me, it’s no pressure.
He claimed that in order to have the greatest impact, such pressures must be imposed through the proper channels.
“Until we achieve what we want to achieve, we can pressure ourselves as much as we want; if we apply the pressure in the wrong direction, then we will not get any answers. But if we do apply that pressure in the right direction, then we will be achieving what we want to get and be happy,’’ he said.
Regarding help for the music industry, he claimed that many prospective investors do not comprehend it or recognize its potential for investment.
“The big men you see around us are mostly for the fun of it. The music business is not convincing enough for them to put their money into business. Some of them don’t have an idea and understand our industry,’’ he added.
