The Youth Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bright Nyampong, has called on the leadership of the party to punish the residents of Assin North for their ungratefulness.
His remarks follow the Assin North electorate’s decision to re-elect James Gyakye Quasyon as the constituency’s Member of Parliament despite his ongoing criminal case.
The lawmaker expressed displeasure at the residents’ failure to show appreciation for the productive projects the NPP government has undertaken in the constituency during an interview on Wontumi TV that 1Family Radio was monitoring.
Bright has asked the NPP party not to embark on any new development projects in the constituency as a consequence of their ungratefulness.
He stated, “With all due respect, the Ashanti area needs development. The people of Assin North have demonstrated that development doesn’t factor into voting.
“We beg that they go ahead and build the Kwabre Road and the Manso Road, and we beg them to complete the Suame Interchange for us because we will vote for the NPP and any candidate it puts out, regardless of the weather.’’
“They ought to remove all the equipment from Assin North… Suame also needs them because they will support the NPP, and Kwabre needs them because they will vote for the NPP candidate. Assin North residents don’t like development, as has been observed. This is such ungratefulness, and I believe the government ought to reward them handsomely.’’
“Since the Ashanti region has always been appreciative of the NPP party, it is about time that we act fairly.”
“I beg Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Bawumia’s government that if they are ready to break the 8 and it is not about a simple slogan, then they should focus on the Ashanti region,” he concluded.
