The flagbearer contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has declared that he will surpass Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s very first president, when it comes to the advancement of the country’s northern region.
During an interview on Gbangu FM, which 1Family Radio was able to hear, Kennedy admitted that the north has historically been marginalized in national development programs.
He claims he has an articulate strategy to turn the situation around by encouraging industrialization in the industry and creating jobs.
“My parting message to the people of the north is to never give up hope because no two people are alike. Kennedy Agyapong, a southerner, is heading to the north to give the people up north jobs so they can be respected,’’ he stated.
Agyapoing reaffirmed his dedication to the area by drawing comparisons between the accomplishments of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a native of the Western region, and the previous leadership of northerners like Dr. Hilla Limann, John Mahama, Ali Mahama, and the current Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
In highlighting the distinction he hopes to create, he questioned the past successes of northern leaders in addressing the region’s development requirements.
“If they do not believe me, they should compare the actions and achievements of the four northerners—the Vice President, Dr. Hilla Limann, Mahama, and Aliu Mahama—with those of Kwame Nkrumah of the Western Region and what he accomplished for the people of the north.”
He added “Combine them and contrast them with the contributions Kwame Nkrumah made to the people of the North. If you give me the chance, I’ll break Kwmae Nkrumah’s record.’’
