According to a release from the Ghana Education Service, the Assistant Headmaster (Academics) of Nkwatia Senior High School has been ousted for allegedly assaulting a student.
While criticizing the claimed activity, GES stated in a statement dated August 28, 2023, that it is investigating the situation with the relevant law enforcement institution.
The notice of the Management of Ghana Education Services (GES) has been called to a troubling image of a student of Nkwatia Presby SHS being abused by the school’s Assistant Headmaster (Academics).
The GES categorically condemns the actions of the assistant headmaster, who is responsible for ensuring that students and teachers operate in a safe school environment. The Eastern Regional Director of Education is working with the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency to investigate the matter.
In the meantime, the student is receiving medical care and counseling, according to the statement, and the assistant headmaster has been stripped of his duties.
A video surfaced online showing a young woman, who appeared to be a student at Nkwatia Presby Senior High School, being slapped and abused by her headmaster.
The young lady is claimed to have gone partially blind as a result of the incident.
Based on reports that 1Family Radio has followed, she was beaten after her assistant headmaster suspected her of leaving campus without permission and refused to listen to her when she tried to explain that she had permission.
In reaction, the headmaster is claimed to have threatened her with further punishment, prompting him (the headmaster) to physically strike her.
He allegedly ordered her knell down for a time, and when she informed him she was sick, his alleged reaction was that he”d lash her to make her feel better.
She inadvertently clutched his cane when he was ready to lash her, which enraged him and drove him to land a hard smack on her face to beat her up,” according to one report shared on social media.
