Shatta Wale has come under fire from Ghanaian entertainment journalist and pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo for saying that Ghanaians will benefit the most from his performance at the 02 Arena.
Shatta Wale said he would not put his life in danger by packing the 02 Arena only to please Ghanaians or those in the music business.
“You people call me a drug addict. Why should I risk my life to fill a place for Ghanaians or the music industry? Shatta Wale noted
The entertainment analyst, on the other hand, claims that he is perplexed as to why the musician would make these statements.
Arnold claimed during an interview with UTV’s Showbiz, which was monitored by 1Family Radio, that Shatta Wale benefits from performing at events because, at the end of the day, he is able to fill up his account.
“How does this make sense? An artist is going to fill the 02 Arena; how is that a risk to your life?’’ Arnold quizzed.
“It’s part of your function, your mandate as an artist, to actually go out there and perform. Unless, of course, you’re neither an artist nor you don’t believe you’re a musician.’’
Arnold furthered, ‘’A musician has revenue generation points: royalties, endorsement deals, album sales, which are now streaming, and most importantly, touring, playing gigs, and performances.’’
“So as an artist, to say you’re risking your life for doing a part of your job, then what’s the point? How are you filling it for Ghanaians? The biggest beneficiary is you, Shatta Wale,’’ he said.
