A private legal practitioner, lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has alleged that the current government must be blamed for the ongoing Menzgold scandal.
In his opinion, the NPP government, the finance minister, and some other public institutions, including the Bank of Ghana and the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), should be held accountable for their negligent behavior.
Speaking in an interview on Neat FM, monitored by 1Family Radio, Maurice said that the government authorities who allowed the corporation to continue operating should also face criticism, in addition to the embattled CEO, NAM 1.
“Menzgold failed to heed my advice, which is why they lost. The attention should be on the government of the time, which allegedly permitted Menzgold to operate, he added. “I am sacred and concerned that Menzgold clients are still trying to receive their money back from NAM1.’’
“Numerous regulatory organizations, such as the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Bank of Ghana, the Finance Minister, and others, failed to exercise due diligence.’’
“For some of us, the processes in the NAM 1 Saga are nonsense… and the government of the day led by Nana Akufo-Addo should be held responsible,’’ Maurice noted.
