The lawmaker for Assin Central and a flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has alleged that Koku Anyidoho was involved in the treason charge brought against him some years ago.
Kennedy Agyapong was arrested in 2012 on suspicion of attempted treason, genocide, and terrorism following allegations that he had made tribal remarks on Oman FM. The accusations were later dismissed, and he was charged with lesser felonies instead.
Koku Anyidoho, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, has been blamed by Kennedy Agyapong for the accusations made against him. He claimed Koku turned the Ewes and the media against him because he stood up for the NPP.
He made this assertion while addressing some delegates of the NPP in the Hohoe Constituency, which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
“I was accused of treason. ‘Kennedy Agyapong says they should go and kill Ewes,” Koku Anyidoho allegedly told the media in an effort to stir them against me.
“By 5:00 p.m., Oman FM was surrounded by police. I reported myself the next day. I was present when Koku Anyidoho called from Prof. Mills’ office and requested that they charge me with treason, which they did because I was defending the NPP,’’ he said.
