Muntaka Mubarak, the MP for the Asawase and the former minority Chief Whip in parliament has condemned the Minister of Health for his refusal to appear before parliament despite the letter sent to him.
On February 24,2023, the clerk of parliament’s Health Committee invited the Minister of Health in a letter sent to him to summon him before parliament on February 28, 2023 at 9: 00 am to brief the committee on the shortage of vaccine in Ghana and the measures taken to curb this problem.
However, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu did not appear before the committee to brief them on the issue despite the letter sent to him. Muntaka Mubarak who is also a member of the committee has described this action by the minister as disrespectful.
“The Minister of Health, for the want of a better word, I will say disrespectfully refused to appear before the committee despite the letter sent to him and the follow-up calls.
The lawmaker asserted that the minister was aware of the urgency of the meeting but he didn’t show up before the committee despite the fact that a ranking member of parliament called him a week before the meeting and this is a gross disrespect.
Making a submission in parliament monitored by 1Family Radio, the lawmaker lamented “it is rather unfortunate that we have some government officials who think they are doing Ghanaians a favor by being occupying government’s offices.”
