Pius Enam Hadzie, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) has called out to the German Ambassador to Ghana to be specific on the sectors he wants government to cut down expenditures.
Daniel Krull, the German Ambassador to Ghana in a press conference on Friday advised the president to cut down on expenditures and his government machinery before seeking for help from the international community.
However, speaking in an interview on TV3 which was monitored by 1Family Radio, Mr. Pius has urged the diplomat to be more specific on the sectors he wants government to cut expenditures.
He acknowledged that the diplomat said the right thing by asking the government to cut down on expenditures and the size of the government. However, this does not solve the problem on the ground.
According to Pius, there are rules governing international diplomacy and diplomats are allowed some form of laxity but there are rules which also guide the narrative of this country.
The NYA boss indicated that the president and the members of government have stated that the size of the government must be reduced but then the diplomat must be specific on the sectors of government he wants the reductions.
“It is easy to say that the government must cut down on expenditures but in what areas?“ Pius quizzed. He urged that diplomat to specify the sectors government must cut expenditures. “Is it the road sector or must we cut our expenditure in the health sector or in education?” he asked again.
Pius believes that our bilateral partners are not really looking out for our good, adding that their purpose for coming to Africa is to make Africa their production force to feed them and if given the chance, they will surely do it.
Enam added that the country is at liberty not to implement the policies by these bilateral partners. Mr. Hadzie concluded that we must be able to take our own decisions.
