Seasoned Ghanaian highlife artist Rex Omar has opened up about why he decided to stop going to church some years ago.
He claimed that the church at that time wasn’t supportive of his musical career and therefore refused to help him financially despite his dedication to church activities.
Speaking in an interview on Asaase Radio, monitored by 1Family Radio, Rex Omar revealed that his musical career witnessed a turning point when he had an encounter with a ‘worldly person’, who believed in his dream and was willing to sponsor him.
“I used to be involved with the church a lot. We would go for prayers at Atwea Mountain and all that. So one day, I asked my pastor if the church could help fund my recording because I wanted to go to the studio.’’
He continued, “But the pastor told me that the church board has sat down, and they said we can’t use church money for recording.’’
“I found someone outside the church who was willing to support my recording. Surprisingly, that recording, which was a gospel song, became a big hit,’’ he disclosed.
