Mohammed Aminu M. Alabira, the Northern regional correspondent for Citi FM/Citi TV, has stated that he is prepared to appear in court alongside Farouk Aliu Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Yendi in the Northern Region, regarding an alleged incident that occurred during the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
This reaction follows the MP’s letter to the media outlet and the journalist, in which he demanded an apology and retraction for what he believed to be false accusations made by the journalists.
In an interview with Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, which was monitored by 1Family Radio, Farouk Aliu Mahama denied assaulting the journalist.
Randy Abbey, the host of the program, questioned Alabira, asking, “How do you feel about what you’ve seen in the letter? They’re urging you to apologize and retract.
The journalist retorted that he was prepared to take the MP to court on the issue.
At Yendi Senior High School, the violence broke out during the counting procedure. He stated, “I’m glad Alhaji Farouk announced he would be appearing in court. I’m prepared to confront him in court. He kicked, slapped, and assaulted me, and I won’t apologize for it if he says I’m lying.
Violence is said to have started when one of the Election Commission’s employees was seen shredding the opponents’ ballots for Farouk Aliu Mahama.
While filing a live report, Mohammed Albaira claims to have been slapped by Farouk Aliu Mohammed, but he was caught up in the frenzy.
