Nana Appiah Mensah, often known as NAM 1, the CEO of the now-defunct MenzGold, filed a suit for defamation against media personality Bridget Otoo.
NAM 1 filed a lawsuit against the Metro TV broadcaster in an Accra High Court, requesting various reliefs and damages totaling Gh¢1 million.
He accused Otoo of publishing defamatory remarks on her X handle in his ongoing lawsuit, according to a writ of summons seen by 1Family Radio on November 7, 2023.
“In which country will a fraudster like @Nam_the_Patriot be allowed to do this? This is a form of bribery for the police, who are to arrest him to distribute money on his behalf! Smh f Nam 1 is a scammer. #Jail him #OccupyJulorbiHouse,’’ Bridget’s tweet read.
According to Nam 1, Bridget’s opinions paint him as a criminal who “makes money through deceit by scamming; the plaintiff is a fraudster; the plaintiff is a dishonest person and deceives the public to make money.”
He believes that “he has suffered great damage to his character and reputation by being portrayed as a fraudster and scammer in the eyes of right-thinking members of society and business partners worldwide,” to the extent that the courts will decide whether or not to declare him to be a criminal or scammer.
In addition to requesting the $1 million in damages that he gives up, Ghana also wants a permanent injunction prohibiting Bridget from releasing any further false information about him.
