Emmanuel Barnes, a well-known entertainment pundit better known by his stage name Mr. Logic, expresses his dissatisfaction and rage at the remarks made by Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, the mistress of the National Science and Maths Quiz [NSMQ], during a conversation she had with renowned presenter Nathan Adisi, more effectively known as Bola Ray.
While other schools focus on “singing and dancing,” the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School-Legon concentrates on learning and getting ready for the national quiz, according to some remarks made by Madam Elsie during the Starr Chat program.
Many people, including Mr. Logic and the Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana [ATWAG], found the remarks to be extremely offensive to those who work in the creative industry, and they demanded that she publicly apologize for her rash remarks. The comments caused a great deal of controversy, both offline and online.
“To make everyone feel better, she needs to apologize. Wisdom is not always derived from book knowledge; wisdom itself is considered wisdom. There are competent but foolish academics. On November 9, on the UTV show Showbiz United, which 1Family Radio was intently watching, Mr. Logic made a statement.
He went on, “We are all endowed with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding; nevertheless, she stated that because she was now lacking in both knowledge and wisdom. Had the two remained together, she would have taken into account the fact that it was a creative situation.
Additionally, he expressed great concern about how academics often denigrate creatives, saying, “If you look at the doctors and professors in the country, the money those creative sectors make, they wouldn’t be able to make that amount throughout their lives, yet still they undermine these creative people and label them as jobless.”
Although he acknowledged that he appreciated the manner in which she administered the quiz, he insisted that she issue an apology to all members of the creative industry right away after hearing her statement.
