“The media needs to curb their insatiable desire for controversy.” Trigmatic implores the media to cover their acts and the ensuing fallout.
Rapper Enoch Nana Yaw Oduro-Adjei, better known by his stage name Trigmatic, is a Ghanaian and the leader of the Safoa Band. He recently addressed the Ghanaian media with some very powerful remarks. On November 2, 2023, the well-known rapper spoke with Akua Sonto, the host of Accra FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo program, while the show was being keenly watched by 1Family Radio.
“People believe everything the radio broadcasts is true,” the rapper said. That’s who I eventually become if I listen to you every day and the message is negative. Trigmatic went on to say that the actions of the populace on social media represent the nation’s thoughts in a depressing way.
“We shouldn’t be in a hurry to look out for the worst thing I’ll say to put that out, because it is a very selfish way of thinking,” the multiple award-winning rapper said. That increases listenership for Accra FM [or the media in general, but it undermines the mission, the efforts of others, and the necessary good things.
The rapper underlined that intentionality is necessary for the sector to succeed and that thinking selfishly will only cause significant harm to both the industry and the nation.
Trigmatic added, “It’s not magic,” and expressed his strong belief that Ghana can infuse the business with wholesomeness. He noted that, in spite of his widespread popularity in the afrobeats genre, he has not compromised the genre’s tradition, guaranteeing that “local artists are still very relevant.”
The rapper went on, “We need investors, but before they come in, they need to be sure they are going into a sane environment.” He claimed that potential investors would get fearful and lose confidence as a result of the fighting, squabbling, and insults.
He went on to say that since the intended investment is dependent on research materials, players in the creative business should pay attention to those documents in order to draw in investors.
