The CEO of the now-defunct UT Bank, Capt. (Rtd) Prince Kofi Amoabeng, has said that Ghanaians erred in electing President Nana Akufo-Addo to head the nation.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, which 1Family Radio carried, Kofi Amoabeng alluded to the fact that although he had received backlash for making this statement in the past, the current state of affairs in the nation validates him.
He went on to say that under the Akufo-Addo administration, liquidity intended for the next generation has already been wasted since things are so awful.
“If you ask me, we voted wrongly, and for what is happening around, I think you can look me in the eye and tell me that, yes, I’m telling the truth,’’ he said.
“Times are really hard. What the government has done this time is unbelievable. We consumed the past because people’s savings went, everything went; we are consuming the present because of high taxes, inflation, and utilities going up by the day; and we are consuming the future because there are debts that have been scheduled ahead of us.’’
“This is a desperation situation, and I don’t think we have been in this situation before,’’ he added.
But he made it clear that his uproar toward the president and his administration was not motivated by their decision to close his bank, which he felt was a careless one.
