In an attempt to guarantee an orderly poll on Saturday, November 4, 2023, the National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made an appeal to the party’s presidential contenders to follow the rules established by the Elections Committee.
The council urged the four candidates, in separate meetings, to remind their supporters that they are all members of the Great Elephant Party and that they have all committed to following the current procedure in order to choose one of the four honorable men to lead them in our effort to hold onto power in 2024.
In a statement released and bearing the signature of Alhaji Sulemana Yiremea, the acting chairman of the NPP’s National Council of Elders, the council urged the candidates and the supporters to refrain from disparaging remarks, derogatory remarks, altercations, and altercations prior to, during, and following the election.
“The Council urges strongly that all delegates be law-abiding on election day. And for the remaining period left for campaigning, we should desist from intimidation and hostile confrontations,” parts of the statement sighted by 1Family Radio read.
According to the statement, the presidential candidates were persuaded to convince their followers that the real fight would start after the November 4 primary.
A democratic, impartial, and transparent election on November 4, 2023, was another assurance given by the council to the presidential candidates.
“The Council gives its untainted assurance that the November 4 election will be free, fair, and transparent to the satisfaction of all and sundry,” it noted.
The Council also asked all party officials to refrain from saying anything that would compromise the election’s integrity, in addition to making sure they were perceived as fair.
The Council wished each and every one of the contenders good luck and announced that the winner of that particular day would have to cooperate with everyone in the party.
“Patriots, in moments of tension, do remember the sacrifices endured by our forebears in building a future for us; as we share in the glory, let us aim at adding to their gains and not destroy them,” the statement added.
