Supporters have taken criticism at West Ham United’s coach David Moyes for benching Ghanaian player Mohammed Kudus during their 4-1 Premier League loss to Aston Villa.
On Sunday, October 22, 2023, Mohammed Kudus began the game on the bench as Aston Villa easily defeated the Londoners.
Douglas Luis opened the scoring and converted a penalty just after halftime.
The hosts were rattled by a deflected shot from Jarrod Bowen, but England striker Ollie Wartins scored Villa’s eighth goal of the year shortly after.
Late in the game, Villa’s substitute, Leon Bailey, scored to give them their 11th straight league victory at home.
Social media was employed by fans to vent their dissatisfaction with Moyes’ decision to bench Kudus after the game.
The reason behind Kudus’s exclusion from the starting lineup, despite his impressive performance and equalizer against Newscastle, was questioned by many.
