A delegation of Ga elders and chiefs has sent a strong warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership over the confiscation of assets, including indigenous Ga lands.
These chiefs asserted that certain party leaders are stealing and selling Ga state-owned property under the party’s name and influence.
The chiefs’ spokesperson accused former NPP national chairman Freddie Blay and former Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer Moses Abor of seizing land in a widely shared video that 1Family Radio sighted.
“We would like to notify the public today that the people who purchased land from Ben Siram, Moses Abor, and Freddie Blay should get their money back. We will not permit them to develop the land in any way,’’ he said.
“Secondly, we also want to inform the Vice President, His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, that breaking the 8 is not an easy way for the party to seize some people’s property.’’
“Now, they are using our party as a wheel to take our properties from us,’’ he noted.
The NPP’s top official, who claimed to be a prominent member, went on to say that new bees are the ones stealing land and profiting from it.
“When we were in the NPP, where was Moses Abor? When we were at Kantamanto, where was John Siram? And then the former National Chairman, Freddie Blay, said if the NPP is a military party, he would salute me. I joined the party in 1992; by then, where was he?’’ he asked.
