A Ghanaian lady whose video went viral during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest has allegedly lost her job.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, which was monitored by 1family Radio, the lady, who has been identified as Nasiba Bawa, disclosed that she was expelled from her job barely 48 hours after she went viral.
In the widely shared video, Nasiba attacked the medical system and brought attention to a 24-year-old patient’s death as a result of not being able to pay for treatment.
Arguments were sparked by the video, especially when she discussed the suffering of patients with kidney illness at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
But Nasiba alleges her employer, Proxy Assistant, fired her from her job while she was on sick leave, only 48 hours after she took an active part in the protest.
She voiced the opinion that there is frequently a cost to speaking up, even if she has refrained from directly connecting her termination to her involvement in the protest.
Bawa added that she is unaware of any political prejudice that may exist within the organization.
“If I knew the company was partisan, then maybe I could say that, but I don’t know if it is partisan. I wasn’t rebuked for going to the protest; my uncle said that there is a price to pay for everything,’’ she said.
