The winner of the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards’ Best International Flow category is none other than Ghanaian phenom Black Sherif.
To solidify his place on the international scene, Blacko, as he is affectionately called, defeated opposition from other greats from across the globe, such as Sampa the Great from Zimbabwe and Aka and K.O. from South Africa.
Blacko, whose career has grown enormously since he started out about four years ago, said in his acceptance speech that he had a dream in which he won the prize.
The artist expressed in a widely shared video, which 1Family Radio saw, how his perseverance has carried him far and extended an invitation to everyone in the audience to travel to Africa, where they are royalty.
“I saw this in my sleep every night. I started making music four years ago in a small city in Ghana called Konongo Zongo, and there was no way nobody was going to convince me that I wouldn’t be here and that my music wasn’t going global,’’ he said.
‘’Thank you so much, BET; thank you to God; thank you to my mom; thank you to my dad; and thank you to my team. I love you guys so much, and to each and every one of you here, Remember, you are kings and queens back home; welcome back home,’’ Blacko added.
