Teniola Apata, a Nigerian singer and entertainer better known by her stage name Teni, has revealed some nerve-wracking revelations about her early years.
According to her account, her father, retired Nigerian army Brigadier-General Simeon Apata, was assassinated in front of her very eyes.
Speaking in an interview with Taymesan on the Tay podcast, monitored by 1Family Radio, Teni further disclosed that this startling incident occurred when she was just two years old.
“My father was a disciplinarian. He was a soldier, and he owned a school, Apata Memorial High School. He was also a big philanthropist,’’ she said.
“Growing up with my father passing at such a young age, the trauma of losing my father at such a young age affected me.’’
She continued, “You know, him being assassinated in the presence of all of us and all that stuff. I was two at the time.’’
“His passing away robbed me, as a child, of having a father figure. It sort of made me have trust issues growing up. Because the gunmen came into our house purposely to kill him,’’ Teni added.
