The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, has spoken out about the alleged theft that occurred at her residence in Abelemkpe.
According to a report that surfaced online on Friday, July 21, 2023, the minister’s two housekeepers stole US$1 million, £300 thousand, millions of cedis, and other precious stuff from their bedroom.
This story ignited social media as Ghanaian lawmakers and celebrities questioned Cecilia Dapaah’s decision to keep such a large sum of money in her bedroom.
Some even demanded that the president launch an investigation into the situation to determine whether Cecilia received the money illegally.
However, the minister indicated in a brief statement issued on July 21, 2023, that there are several noticeable discrepancies between the media reporting and the police case.
Cecilia said in the statement, which was sighted by 1Family Radio, that she is investigating the causes of the contradictions.
“I refer to publications dated July 21, 2023, suggesting that I own one million dollars, three hundred thousand euros, and millions of cedis that have been stolen from my house,’’ parts of the statement read.
“There are noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the trust of the original complaint on the matter.’’
“I am taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days,’’ she wrote.
