Parliament has been directed by Speaker Alban Sumana Bagbin to form a committee to look into the audio recording of a scheme to oust Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from his position as Inspector General of Police.
The committee would consist of seven people—three from each side of the house and one with expertise.
This came about when Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah made an urgent address in the house, calling for an inquiry into the recording.
Speaker Bagbin made this declaration during the session of parliament on Thursday, July 13, 2023, which 1Family Radio monitored.
Over the course of the week, it is anticipated that the names of the three representatives from each faction will be submitted to the House.
According to expectations, the committee will look into the veracity of the audio tape that was released, the plot to oust the IGP, and any other issues it reveals, and, if needed, will suggest sanctions for anyone found guilty.
Additionally, it must offer reform suggestions as necessary and issue any other recommendations or related directives that the committee may find essential.
