Former Black Stars players who are pursuing coaching certifications would be eligible for 50% off packages, according to Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku.
On Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Sciences and Technology (KNUST), he made this declaration during the GFA 29th Ordinary Congress. Family Radio monitored the GFA Congress.
In his submission, he stated that the purpose of the discount given to to former players is to motivate them to pursue coaching careers.
“Our heroes, our ex-national team players, ought to be interested in coaching. We want to offer them facilities that would encourage them to go into coaching,’’ he said.
“One of the facilities will be a 50% discount in payment relating to the acquisition of coaching licenses for our ex-national team players,” he announced.
The project, “Catch Them Young Referee Policy,” which sought to recognize young talents across the nation and develop them into professional players, has been effective, says the GFA president.
He added that the association employs referee managers across the nation who do not receive a monthly wage.
