The football coach from Ghana, Nana Agyeman, has attributed Asante Kotoko’s problems to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the team’s sponsor. Nana Agyeman explained his reasoning, saying that Otumfuo seems to be the face of Kotoko, in contrast to clubs in Europe where the patrons are more obscure.
“I don’t know the patron when you examine Manchester United closely—a very large club. These clubs’ patrons aren’t featured in the same manner as Otumfuo’s., “Ayemang told JoySports, which was sighted by 1Family Radio.
He also brought up the king’s managerial selections, which he claims are fake. For me, the monarch is the main difficulty, followed by the members of the management that he chooses. Given the intense lobbying that takes place, the selection process itself poses additional issues.
He then said, “We never ever got to the stage. We are supposed to have some competent people sitting around a table as the board managing this club.” Ever since reaching the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup finals, Asante Kook’s performance has drastically decreased.
Their finest performances in the CAF inter-club competitions have come in the group stages, although they have not won a single league title in the previous nine years. They are currently ranked tenth in the Ghana Premier League 2023–2024. In their last ten games, they have won two, drawn one, and lost seven.
