On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, a former Minister of Youth and Sports, is said to have passed away.
As stated in the Herald newspaper, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha passed away due to a chronic ailment that had afflicted him for several months.
The 63-year-old Dr. Ahmed Mustapha served as Ghana’s sports minister for eight months before passing away.
In 2015, he took over for Mahama Ayariga after the latter was placed on the Africa Cup of Nations blacklist due to concerns about tournament funding.
Dr. Ahmed Mustapha served as the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) representative for the Ayawaso East Constituency from 2001 until 2013 before taking on the position of Sports Minister.
He was a retired military officer who worked at the 37 Military Hospital, according to additional information provided by the Herald. Additionally, he founded and ran a dentistry clinic in Accra’s Maamobi neighborhood.
