Despite being down a player for much of the encounter, Medeama FC destroyed Legon Cities, demonstrating to the whole country why they are the reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League [GPL].
Godknows Dzapkasu, a midfielder for Medeama FC, was sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the match, leaving his team to defend against a lethal Legon Cities team. Despite this, Medeama FC managed to maintain composure and score a goal in the last seconds of the first half through right-back Mamudu Kamaradin. As the second half of the game went on, defender Kofi Asmah of Medeama FC increased their lead with a goal in the 59th minute to seal the victory.
Legon Cities, with 11 points from nine games, is ranked eleventh in the GPL, having lost both points and some league respect.
With just three points separating them from the top spot in the league table, Medeama FC finds themselves in fifth place with thirteen points after winning the game and making one of the biggest statements in the league right now.
