President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that the government has made approximately GH¢115 billion in investments in the education sector.
Speaking at the 61st annual conference of the Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) at the Achimota School, which was monitored by 1Family Radio, the president claimed that GH¢12.96 billion had been allocated to senior high schools out of the total amount.
“At the senior high school alone, of which there are 925 schools, we have initiated a total of 1,105 projects, including accommodation and teaching and learning-related projects, from 2017 to date,” President Akufo-Addo said.
“Out of this, 406 are classroom blocks of various types, science laboratories and home economic blocks, 386 dormitory blocks, and 233 toilet facilities with nine newly constructed model STEM SHSs spread around the country,’’ he added.
The president bragged about his government’s unparalleled accomplishments in the field of education.
He claimed that his administration had contributed more to the expansion of the education sector than any other in the Fourth Republic’s history.
President Akufo-Addo provided statistics to back up his claim, stating that since 2017, 667,470 pieces of furniture, 1,500 motorcycles, 350 buses, 840 pick-up trucks, and 280,000 laptops for teachers have also been distributed.
He also said that 450,000 tablets would soon be delivered in accordance with the one-student, one-tablet principle.
