October 10, 2023, saw the arrival in Ghana of the lifeless remains of the former Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Enoch Teye Mensah, from South Africa.
His family members reported his passing in South Africa on October 2, 2023. Prior to his death, he was receiving medical attention in South Africa.
In a video stream that 1Family Radio and GBC posted, there was a crowded scene at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) as government and parliament officials, family members, friends, and sympathizers awaited the arrival of the remains, which arrived aboard a South African Airways jet.
Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, received the late minister’s mortal remains on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The remains were transported to a stand by the military after customary ceremonies were performed. The national flag was draped over the departed E.T. Mensah’s corpse.
Along with other senior officials, General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey represented the NDC.
Following a short ceremony, the body has subsequently been transported to the mortuary.
At the age of 77, the former sports minister passed on. May 17th, 1946, was his birthday. He served as Ghana’s Minister of Education and Member of Parliament from January 1997 until January 2017.
