The father of the late Nigerian musician Mohbad, Joesph Aloba, has provided details on events that took place on the day of his son’s passing.
Mr. Joseph described the situation in precise detail, including how he went to his late son’s house after learning of his death.
He also described how they were refused permission to file a police report, as well as his justification for burying him quickly, in a video obtained by 1Family Radio.
He explained that he buried Mohbad just 24 hours after his passing since there wasn’t room at the mortuary and he couldn’t bear to see his son’s body.
“My son died at 3 p.m.; nobody called me. By the time I got to his house, it was 10 p.m., and I saw a lot of people. We were denied a police report at the station. We tried to take him to the mortuary, but there was no space, and I couldn’t be watching him in the house. I had to bury him. Nigerians should forgive me if I offend them. Nobody loves him like me,’’ he stated in their local dialect.
“I have never seen Sam Larry before in my life. The first day I went to Naira Marley’s house, Mohbad was eating, and Naira picked up a spoon and was eating with him. This really touched me—that he loved him so much, but my son told me Naira was evil.’’
He continued, “When I went to Naira’s room to beg him to forgive my son whatever he might have done, I didn’t know he was recording me. The first time I saw Sam Larry ever beat him, he told me not to say anything. He reported it to the police station, but nothing was done. Since then, he has always lived with fear.’’
“He was beaten again during his video with Zlatan. I need justice for him. As a pastor, I can’t fight this traditionally because of my religion. If they want to do the DNA test, let them do it,’’ he added.
