Ghanaian right winger for Premier League club West Ham, Mohammed Kudus, shared his happiness at scoring his first Premier League goal on Sunday.
In a post-match interview monitored by 1Family Radio, Kudus credited his musician friend Stonebwoy with bringing him good fortune.
As the 17th Ghanaian international to score in the Premier League, Kudus entered the game as a substitute in the 76th minute and scored in the 89th to clinch a late draw for West Ham against Newcastle United.
“It feels very good to score that goal, of course. Most importantly, it made a difference for the team, which was us getting a point.’’
“Even though we wanted the three points, I was happy to score my first Premier League goal, and it was important that we got a point out of it,’’ Kudus said.
Kudus claimed that Stonebwoy had actually made a prediction that he would score two goals during the game, and although he only succeeded in scoring one, he thought the artist had brought good fortune to the stadium.
“It was great to celebrate with our amazing fans. When we were down 2-1 and I was on the bench, we could still feel the support and the energy from the fans, so thank you to them for that.’’
“I think it uplifted the player’s energy a lot. It was a great atmosphere today; everyone gave their best, so we take the point we gained from it,’’ he added.
