Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central and potential flag bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated plans to create a special fund to build cutting-edge studios throughout the country if elected president of Ghana.
According to him, this is in keeping with his vision to support the creative industry.
He emphasized the urgent need for investments in the creative arts industry in response to the lack of superb studio facilities in the nation, which hampers artists and producers from producing high-caliber music videos and cinematic projects.
The well-known politician and businessman discussed his goals for Ghana’s entertainment sector, which included the creation of a state-of-the-art studio, in an interview with Starr FM’s Bola Ray, which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
“Let me tell you something: we need to build fantastic studios over here. What I don’t like is that for any good music or show, they have to go and do it in Dubai, South Africa. We are going to do it here under my presidency. Nice studios. Let others also come here; we are human beings,” he said.
He underscored the need to foster a supportive atmosphere so that Ghanaian creatives can flourish and be immensely proud of their country.
“When you enter the studio, like what you’ve done, you should be proud of it, and you can change it for the next artist. So we need beautiful studios over here. We have to create a fund for them [the creative arts industry], because to produce a good movie or song, you need a lot of money,” he remarked.
