The former first lady and the wife of former president John Agyekum Kufuor has passed away at the age of 87.
The former first lady passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, according to a report by Asaas Radio that was sighted by 1Family Radio.
From 2001 to 2009, Theresa Kufuor held the position of First Lady of Ghana when her husband was the head of state of that nation.
This sad incident took place in the late afternoon at a residence in the Peduase area of the Aburi mountain.
“Her husband, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, was at home when his wife of over 55 years died. Mrs. Kufuor has not been well in recent years,” parts of the report stated.
“Incidentally, President Nana Akufo-Addo had traveled to the mountains to pay a visit to the former President, and her passing is said to have happened shortly before the President arrived.”
She is survived by her five children, J. Addo Kufuor, Nana Ama Gyamfi, Saah Kufuor, Agyekum Kufuor, and Owusu Afriyie Kufuor, as well as eight grandchildren.
Theresa and Kufuor started dating after their initial meeting at the Republic Day Anniversary Dance in 1961, and they got married in 1962.
