Seasoned Ghanaian reggae artist Samini has unequivocally stated that his song ‘My Own’ is the biggest song in Ghana right now.
According to him, no song from the musicians whose names begin with S, namely Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Shatta Wale, can surpass this song.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 with Berla Mundi, which was monitored by 1Family Radio, Samini claimed that not much has changed significantly in the music industry since he took a break for his education.
“While at school, while I thought I was on a break, I didn’t see any significant change in this space. And I’m back. There’s no hit song in this space. None of them, no hit song can beat just ‘My own’ right now,’’ he bragged.
However, he clarified the situation with regard to the people he was making the statement about. He emphasized that his comments were intended for the four S’s rather than any of the young artists.
“Don’t get me wrong, and don’t take my message wrongly. We’re talking about the four S’s,’’ he stated.
He continued by congratulating Stonebwoy on the success of his “fifth dimension” project and claiming that because he was his protégé, Stonebwoy was the only musician who could compete with him in terms of legacy.
“Fifth Dimension is a great project. I like into the future. That’s a hit. So among the four S’s, I must say the only person that dropped something close is coming fro my school. That’s my family. Family blood is thicker than water,’’ he added.
