A controversial Ghanaian act, Brother Sammy, has slammed Christianity for its tenets on body piercing and dreadlocks.
He contends that since the world has evolved, it is no longer reasonable to hold the view that piercing or dreadlocks are sinful.
The gospel musician said during a GHPage TV interview that 1Family Radio monitored that such beliefs deter young people from attending church.
“Are dreadlocks sinful? Why has Christianity’s standard been lowered? That is not the way it is done,” he said.
“In Christianity, it’s assumed that if you don’t make yourself pathetic, God is not by your side. However, this is not true. Even after Jesus passed away, the soldiers staked a claim to his clothing, demonstrating how pricey it was.’’
“Nice guys can no longer even attend church because of the way we have distorted Christianity.’’
‘’They feel shy going to church with piercings because everyone will be looking at them like they’re gods, he continued.’’
“If a male piercing is wrong, then females too should not do so. No one was born into the world with a piercing, so it shouldn’t be so,’’ Brother Sammy noted.
“People, particularly the boys, have quit attending church as a result of the way we critique things in the church. It will be challenging to win souls for Christ if that keeps happening. We are giving the impression that you are not considered a Christian unless you become antiquated,” he remarked.
