Member of Parliament for the Asawase Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Muntaka Mohammed, has claimed that President Akufo-Addo has not done enough to safeguard the public coffers.
He contends that the Akufo-Addo-led government has done nothing except plunder the nation in unprecedented manners since coming into office.
The politician made this statement during an exclusive interview with Prince Ade on Kumasi-based OTEC FM, which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
As stated by Muntaka, the president’s inability to conduct an investigation and prosecute individuals implicated in corruption is the reason for the crisis of corruption in the halls of power.
“President Akufo-Addo must be up and doing and carefully probe into issues of corruption, which continued to be a bane to our economic emancipation as a people,’’ he remarked.
“Talking about the public purse, President Akufo-Addo has done nothing to protect the public purse; he’s rather acting like a Kejetia pickpocket, who wouldn’t mind breaking the purse while stealing from it,’’ he noted.
“It was our time when my colleague, Deputy Minister Victoria Hammah, dreamed of getting one million dollars but was sacked immediately when this issue of her dreaming came to light.’’
“But we have government appointees accused of stealing huge sums of money from the state, yet nothing has been done about it,’’ he said.
