Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, an NPP presidential candidate, has urged Ghanaians to refrain from comparing him to former American President Donald Trump.
He asserts that since he has more political expertise than Donald Trump, they cannot possibly be comparable.
Speaking in an interview on Citi TV, monitored by 1Family Radio, Kennedy acknowledged, however, that he and Donald have some resemblance in the field of business management.
“I call myself the people’s man… When you talk of business and you compare me to Donald Trump, I agree,’’ he said.
“But if you tell me in politics that I am like Donald Trump, I disagree,’’ the Assin Central Parliamentarian noted.
He continued, “I disagree because I have been in politics for about 32 years, and Donald Trump was a typical businessman, so he decided to run to make a change. Which I agree with him.’’
Agyapong not only made it clear how he felt about the Trump comparison, but he also spelled out his political philosophy in a clear-cut manner.
“But some of his policies were too harsh for ordinary citizens in the country, but when it comes to Kennedy Agyapong, I always think about the ordinary people first and not the higher class.’’
“Although the NPP aligns with the Republicans, I’m a Democrat. Democrats always make policies that take care of ordinary people. For Republicans, sometimes their decisions are very tough and do not favor the ordinary citizen. ” I’m not a conservative; I’m not a socialist either; I’m a liberal,’’ he clarified.
