George Kwabena Adu, a versatile Ghanaian musician, professionally known as Kwabena Kwabena, has descended heavily on Ghanaians who are labeling him as gay.
His taste in fashion and some quirky attire that he frequently wore gave rise to the notion that he was gay. He is mostly spotted with manicured nails as well as wearing attire that is supposedly feminine.
The concept that he was gay was bolstered when photos of him wearing a long-sleeved fluffy top and flared, multicolored pants at the 2023 VGMA Awards surfaced online.
The ‘Bue Kwan’ singer has responded to these criticisms by saying that a person’s appearance doesn’t convey his sexuality because appearances can be deceptive.
Speaking in an interview on Asaase Radio, monitored by 1Family Radio, the musician urged Ghanaians to quit condemning things they do not understand and to keep an open mind.
“Our society needs a lot of education. I believe that illiteracy is a major factor in our thinking, particularly when it comes to certain issues like this,’’ he said.
“The physical appearance has little bearing on sexuality. Simple as that is. And who said that manicures, pedicures, and nail polishing are exclusive to women? Who made that rule, and who said that? Everyone should get a manicure and pedicure if they wish to keep their nails clean.’’
He continued, “I believe the best course of action if you disagree with something someone does is to voice your opinion or provide recommendations for what you believe should have been done. Rather than using the internet to verbally abuse people,’’
“For me, it doesn’t really bother me because I’ll always do what I want to do and what makes me comfortable,’’ he added.
