Michelle Alozie of Nigeria has received an apology from England striker Lauren James for their altercation during the Women’s World Cup last-16.
Lauren was sent off for recklessly stamping on Michelle Alozie of Nigeria. She was first given a yellow card for a hard challenge, but the referee changed his mind and sent her out after a VAR review.
The England star took to Twitter (now X) to express her remorse for what she did and vowed to learn from the incident.
“All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened. Also, for our England fans and my teammates, playing with and for you is my greatest honor, and I promise to learn from my experience,’’ Lauren wrote in her post, which was sighted by 1Family Radio.
