Member of Parliament for the Builsa Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has dug up evidence to back up an allegation made about Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking in an interview on XYZ TV on June 8, 2023, Sam Pee Yalley, the former ambassador for India, alleged that Dr. Bawumia holds British citizenship, which he has not renounced.

“Did you know that for a very long period, the Bank of Ghana had an international commercial bank in London? The bank used to send directors there, and Bawumia was one of the directors sent there by the Bank of Ghana,’’ he revealed.

“Now that the Supreme Court has decided that a person who holds dual citizenship cannot be a member of parliament, Bawumia’s record at the Bank of Ghana in London indicates that he is a British citizen.’’

“He was a British citizen way back in 2009 before former President Kufuor brought him to Ghana,’’ he said.

“He was the director of the international bank, and if you check their records, he wrote that he was a British national. One may ask whether Bawumia was a director of that bank and whether he ever signed that he was a British citizen. If so, when did he renounce it?’’ he asked.

In a new update to the narrative, Dr. Apaak released a paper with the vice president’s name and British citizenship on Twitter. Dr. Apaak also inquired about Dr. Bawumia’s citizenship in Britain, asking if he had given it up.

“Did Dr. Bawumia (the lying one) denounce his British citizenship before running with Akufo-Addo as his running mate?’’ he quizzed in the tweet sighted by 1Family Radio.

“When did he denounce his British citizenship, and where are the documents to that effect?’’ he asked again.
