Pupils of the Ngleshie Amanfrom Government School are now expected to pay GH10 for water and utility bills used in the school.
This decision by the school has attracted some criticism and outrage from some parents whose children attend the school. Some parents too have expressed hesitancy, as they don’t understand why their wards have to pay for utility bills.
Prophet Nana Yaw Osei Tutu said during an interview on Rainbow Radio, which 1Family Radio monitored, that despite having paid for his wards in the past, he had never witnessed anything like this.
“Since the day I was born, I have never experienced anything like this. He questioned, “How can a school require students to pay for their water and power bills?
“Basic school pupils do not attend school in the evening since they have to pay. This situation is serious. The amount of money collected is huge.’’
“I’m left wondering why this is taking place. Are the children’s producers to be required to pay water and energy bills?’’ he asked.
Some parents have also alleged that the decision was taken by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
