Bishop Samuel Mensah, a member of the National Executive Council of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has asserted that the president was just being diplomatic in his response to Kamala Harris.
According to him, the average Ghanaian was aware that issues pertaining to LGBTQ+ would pop-up during the discussion between the president and Kamala Harris.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 monitored by 1Family Radio, Bishop Mensah indicated that the president was also expecting this issue to be discussed considering who Kamala is and what she symbolizes.
“I believe President Akuffo-Addo was aware that there would be question regarding LGBTQ+, even the average Ghanaian knew this. I think the president wanted to be a bit diplomatic in his response and he was politically correct in the respond he gave,’’ he stated.
He added that the president is a Christian and he also knows that majority of Ghanaians are against homosexuality therefore he is expected to defend our morals and values.
“I am not referring to the contrasted Christian concept in Europe and in some churches. Akuffo-Addo believes in the values of the church and he could have conveyed his respond along that line but he decided to be more diplomatic in his approach.’’
“I think the best thing to do now is accept his response and await what parliament will do,’’ he added.
